American Beauty Institute offers all the services that you normally find in a spa that costs several times as much. Haircuts for women start at $7 and men’s are $5. Color is $15-$20 depending on hair length and highlights are $25-$35. They offer a full variety of waxing services, manicures and pedicures starting at $5 and $10, and facials and eyelash extensions as well.
The best deal may be their massage services. An hour of whole-body massage is only $35, and an hour of foot reflexology is $25. If you thought you’d never have the funds for regular massages, maybe this will change your mind.
Bellus Academy has locations in Poway, National City, and El Cajon for communities east and south of the city. Their salons are updated and designed to give you that professional, typical spa feel so you’ll feel comfortable as soon as you walk in the door.
They offer everything under the sun. Women’s haircuts are $13 and men’s are $5 (buy 4 get one FREE). Highlights are $40 and up, and all-over color starts at $35 with straightening $20. They offer a full service of waxing options starting at just $8, and a 45-minute facial treatment will run you $27 (buy 4 get one FREE). Manicures and pedicures start at $12 and massages start at $35 for 50 minutes.
This only scratches the surface of what Bellus Academy offers, so look for yourself and make an appointment for some pampering. They are closed on Sundays and the June specials at the Poway location include $10 off a full highlight and $15 for a full set of acrylic nails and more.
California Advanced Esthetics is a great place to go for your skincare needs. They offer a full range of services for the body and face. Facials such as the Deep Pore Cleansing Treatment start at $55, and The Rejuvenating Body Scrub is $65 with the Firm and Tone Anti-Cellulite Treatment at $75. They also offer waxing services, chemical peels, and microdermabrasion.
As a bonus, California Advanced Esthetics has Open House Tuesdays with FREE coffee and treats as well as FREE skincare advice and FREE skin analysis. There is no appointment needed and it starts at 12:00 pm every Tuesday. Their facial special is buy 5 facials and get 1 FREE!
California Barber and Beauty College has a salon in El Cajon that is geared towards men’s haircare. According to their instructors, they offer men’s hair and shaving services by appointment as well as walk-in. Men’s haircuts are $5 and guys 15 and under are FREE!! Facials start at $15, waxing is $5 and up, and they offer a full line of all-over body treatments and facial peels starting at $20. This place is definitely worth trying.
Paul Mitchell School has the reputation of the famous stylist behind it and the students are fabulous with their patrons. They’re located directly downtown, a few blocks from Horton Plaza, and have won several awards. Paul Mitchell School focuses on hair services and offers a great selection.
Haircuts start at $12 and include styling. Color starts at $30 and highlights begin at $35 with several specialty coloring options starting at $14 and up. Chemical relaxing services are priced at $32 and a variety of deep conditioning options are available for $14-$25. They are closed on Sundays but offer late styling hours on Mondays/Wednesdays/Thursdays until 10:00 pm for nightowls. Check the website for the full schedule.
San Diego Beauty College is also a steal with $5 haircuts for men and $8 cuts for women. Hair coloring starts at $15 for short hair and $20+ for longer hair. They also have perms, relaxing treatments for hair, and highlights starting at $25. You can get your nails done in French-tip style for only $2, and a regular manicure runs $5 with a pedicure at $7. Massages are $40 for a full hour and their special is buy 5 and get 1 FREE!!
